Operations Research Institute emphasizes its support and welcome to freshmen

With the start of the 2020 academic cycle, authorities of the Operations Research Institute (IIO), present academic plan, teaching staff and the academic advantages of belonging to this entity.


Reaching a new academic cycle implies new challenges and plans for provide the best academic experience and quality professional training, this and other points were the focus of the presentations during the special welcome prepared by the IIO to their students.

First level teachers

The activity began with words of welcome from the Dr. Jorge Samayoa, Ph. D Director of the IIO, who evidenced the special care they have taken to have a teaching staff with high experience, first level and who have been recognized for their excellent work within the academy and industry.

"We have made a point of looking for professors who have experience in the different areas of the profession. It was the most complicated thing when putting together our programs, finding these professionals who do relevant things in the areas that you will study”Commented Dr. Samayoa.

Then there was also the special participation of the Ing. Rodrigo Baessa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, who addressed a few words of welcome to the students.

The activity was also accompanied by the Licda. Bianka Álvarez, from the GES Department (Galileo Educational System) The graduate offered an induction for first-time students to become familiar with said educational platform, whose main function is to support the student during the course of their training, it has web 2.0 tools with which you can interact with your professors, have access to didactic material, consult your notes, make your university payments online, among many others.

The students also learned about important aspects of student life at Galileo University, this was shared by the Ing. Preng Biba M.Sc. who spoke about different services provided by the university that will be part of their entire stay at this university.

Unique Advantages of IIO for Your Students

Another of the authorities who welcomed the students was the Dr. José Ramírez Ph. D Deputy Director IIO, the professional made them aware of some of the benefits that adhere to their professional career, such is the case of the recent alliance with the Institut for Operations Reserch and Management Science (INFORMS).

Dr. Ramírez, explained that by being registered and being part of the IIO, they automatically become members of INFORMS, said association is the largest in the world, which works to promote best practices and advances in the area of operations research, management science and analysis.

"This institute has a student chapter that is a group of students who share certain academic and social activities related to the area, in order to promote this profession and networking among people.”.

In addition, the Deputy Director made mention of the different special activities to which they will have access, at the end of his presentation, he highlighted his interest in supporting his students, in this regard he expressed:

"They are not alone, we are truly dedicated to ensuring that they have two things, the best experience and the best academic training, backed by our top-level professors.
